Welcome To HERecovery

70–80% women will develop fibroids by age 50

HERecovery is a nonprofit organization created to support people preparing for and recovering from myomectomy and other fibroid-related surgeries.

About the Organization

HERecovery is a nonprofit organization created to support people preparing for and recovering from myomectomy and other fibroid-related surgeries. We focus on providing clear information and practical recovery resources that many patients report not receiving before or after surgery.

Uterine fibroids affect millions of women, yet recovery can feel confusing and under-resourced. HERecovery was created to help close that gap by offering education and recovery kits designed to support patients through a major surgical experience, especially those from communities that are disproportionately affected by fibroids.

Uterine fibroids are common, but often misunderstood

Black women are 2–3 times more likely to develop fibroids than white women

Our Mission

Our mission is to help individuals affected by uterine fibroids feel informed, prepared, and equipped with practical resources before and after myomectomy surgery.Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

our Vision

Our vision is a world where people facing fibroid surgery know what to expect, have access to reliable recovery resources, and are not left to figure out recovery on their own.

Founder & Executive Director

HERecovery was founded by a group of women advocates, some with lived experience of fibroids and myomectomy, and others who have witnessed the physical, emotional, and systemic impact fibroids have on women. While not all founders have undergone a myomectomy, each is deeply committed to addressing the gaps in education, support, and recovery resources for women navigating fibroid care. Together, they are united by a shared passion for women’s health equity, dignity in recovery, and culturally responsive support.

Our goal is to give out 50 free recovery kits this year

Each HERecovery Gentle Healing Kit is provided at no cost to individuals preparing for myomectomy surgery. These kits are designed to support comfort, dignity, and healing during recovery, especially for those who may not have access to additional support.

Each kit includes:

  • An abdominal support pillow to ease pressure and support movement
  • Gentle body wipes for comfort when showering is limited
  • Lip balm to relieve dryness after surgery and anesthesia
  • Reusable water bottle to support hydration during recovery
  • Cozy socks for warmth and circulation
  • Silicone scar care strips to support incision healing once approved by a provider
  • Recovery journal for reflection, symptom tracking, and emotional support
